top of the charts - website help

I now thee's a couple of you who build websites here's my prob if you can help. Done this website, it's looking great but the problem is you have to type in near enough the companies name to get it to appear in Google search engine. I want to stick in some proper search words and get it within the first page or two. Spoke to someone from Google and he umm and erred about it and told me it would cost £99 a month. I about chocked on my Vodka when he said that!!

I've stuck in a load of meta tags, but he told me that that way is outdated. Everyone's doing it and it won't work. And ideas?

Add Alt Text to all Images and Lots of Relative TEXT in the pages. and Keep submitting it over and over
