CAD Practice Leader job specification

IT for Projects
IT for Projects (IT4P) is a new Mott MacDonald (MM) team, formed to
address project IT needs in a common way across our global
organisation. IT4P is part of the Global IT team and is an interface
between project delivery and the services provided by IT (e.g. WAN,
ERP software, intranet, email).

CAD Practice Leader
Reporting to the IT4P principal consultant and as MM's central
“expert” on CAD technologies, the CAD Practice Leader is a new role
responsible for coordination of MM's CAD activities. The CAD Practice
Leader will:
1. Establish and maintain global in-house CAD standards, to include
establishing appropriate training for the standards and providing
standard configuration/content for AutoCAD and Microstation (in a
Bentley ProjectWise environment);
2. Establish a Global CAD Champion Network and CAD Steering Groups to
cover business needs across all MM Regions;
3. Maintain a knowledge centre on client/contractor CAD standards and
their development;
4. Identify business needs for global licensing of CAD software;
5. Maintain in-house CAD discussion group;
6. Establish mechanism for global CAD libraries (to be adaptable for
software beyond AutoCAD and Microstation);
7. Provide specialist advice to MM projects on implementation of CAD;
8. Identify future MM needs for CAD software, standards and resources;
There will be a need to travel within the UK and overseas on
short-term visits.
Required skills (not all will be essential):
• Experience of the production and management of CAD data in a
multi-disciplinary environment;
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microstation software;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the
ability to write professional reports for review and consideration by
senior Mott MacDonald staff;
• Customer focus/people skills;
• Team working;
• Quick learner and ability to work in a fast paced environment;
• Self-starter and proactive approach.
